The Expanse

We cut straight to Ceres, where Holden’s broadcast at the end of the previous episode has been repeated across any screen that’ll host it. Anyone and everyone gathers around, news comments on it, it’s all the rage – “rage” being the operating word, here. Holden’s managed to make a powder keg even worse by pouring petroleum on it, but Havelock’s having none of that. Instead, he’s paying to see a prostitute… and learn Lang Belta from her???

Aboard the Canterbury, Ade explains the matchstick in coffee trick. She lists off the benefits before handing it to Jim. Jim hates it. But, apparently it’s an acquired taste. They exchange names, and Ade says her very mysterious thing again…

We start out strong, with my favourite title sequence of any TV show, ever. In just under a minute, we’re treated to a series of beautifully rendered clips showing us how the Sol system has developed between today and the setting of The Expanse, in the year 22??. The wiki refers to this year in particular as “0 XTE”, for reasons that we will discover later…
